The Brewery...

Tom's Tiki Brewery, the only brewing company on the Pacific Frontier. More of a tiki hut with a barn out back, most pilots and mariners spend their time and money here.

Tom Gershwin was born and raised in Harbor-Side Brooklyn, he lived there working the docks until he had a life altering experience. When Prohibition hit New York in 1920, breweries went underground and the manufacturing of liquor became almost as scarce as a prostitute in confession. Working on the docks showed Tom the rougher side of life, it didn't take long for him to become involved in a gang. Thankfully for him he took a fancy to brewing. He did it so well that he had the mayor of New York sneaking down to his secret brewery to sample his drafts. Unfortunately, a new police commissioner put a stop to Tom's brewing career. Once Tom heard the the new commissioner had a warrant out for his arrest he hopped a steamer for the Pacific.

Feelings...

Love, it's complicated. What a statement. The world is full of potential pathways for those of us that dream of a future with a person that we deeply care about. The tricky thing about life and about the human character is that almost everyone is destined to change, either as they mature and grow or as they decline and descend into themselves. It is incredibly sad to see this happen. It is my hope that the person that I find or that finds me is so full of life and love and a desire to excel that we will show each other how to truly live. That everyday be a day of renewed love for each other and our Papa.

From Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem In Memoriam:27, 1850:
I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.
A sad, but true statement.

Kate's Cove!

Kate's Cove, or as it is lovingly called by most pilots and mariners, Kate's Keep. An old spanish fort with a tall lighthouse at one corner straddling a small rocky stretch of land not too far from the U.S. Army controlled Kingman Reef. This strategically placed island is home to the Katherine Court Hotel.
Katherine Court was orphaned at the age of 12. Her Scottish parents were killed during World War One. Her father in the trenches and her mother in a field hospital. This left the entirety of their fortune at her disposal. When she was 18 she rented a Tramp Steamer and headed towards the Pacific Frontier. She discovered the island and fort as well as the small coconut grove and immediately fell in love with it. She invested all that she had into the restoration of the old fort, now the most beautiful hotel in all the Pacific Frontier.

Surprise!

"There is no Surprise more magical than the continual realization of God's love and passion for each and every one of His children."
