Chet Redmen

After living for ten years in a Dublin zoo, Chet escaped and stowed away on a Merchant Navy tramp steamer headed for America. The ship however never made it. It was attacked by a German U-boat in the open Atlantic. A few surviving crew members and Chet were able to make it to the small island of Flores, nearly one thousand miles off the coast of Spain. They managed to secure a sailboat to take them to Portugal and it was there in the port of Lisbon that Chet saw the Mary-Anne. She was moored in the bay about one hundred yards off shore. She was glistening in the sun with a fresh coat of hot rod red paint. Chet stowed away in a small skiff that was taking supplies out to her. He snuck aboard and discovered his love for mechanics. It turned out that the plane was in need of some minor repairs, which Chet was actually able to fix it. That's when he was discovered by Denver. The two have been the best of friends ever since.
